Is Feminism Waning?

The feminist movement is facing a tough time, with rising anti-feminist narratives gaining political and media traction. However, most people – especially young men – support gender equality. To push forward, three steps are needed:
Reject the ‘backlash is normal’ idea: Misogynist views are not the norm. The majority support feminism, and we must amplify this truth to prevent harmful views from becoming perceived as mainstream.
Address men’s concerns: Many feel left out of gender progress. While girls and women have been encouraged to break gender norms, boys and men haven’t been equally supported. Feminism should also empower boys and men to explore non-traditional roles and compassionate masculinities.
Challenge populist manipulation: Populist forces exploit men’s economic frustration by blaming women and minorities. Feminist goals benefit all genders. We must unite around shared goals and promote diverse, positive male role models to counter toxic masculinity online.
